Letter's to the Troops!

For the Fourth of July our kids made some cards to send over to the soldiers serving our country...we found an organization to send them to (A Million Thanks) and the kids got going on writing and decorating!  Here are some pictures of some cute ones!

Working hard!
Sorry if you are offended by this student's spelling of "country"! Haha!

Hope you all have a Happy Fourth!

Mini Farmer's Market Flowers

Today for our craft we made mini bouquets!  We got the idea here: http://postcardsandpretties.blogspot.com/2010/03/favors-mini-farmers-market-flowers.html
from a blog called "Postcards and Pretties."

We bought a bunch of flowers from Rainbow...
and cut them into smaller sizes...
Then the kids each picked out a couple bunches....
and then they wrapped them with ribbon....
and put brown paper around them!

Moowiches and Pigcakes!

Today we did some cooking projects for our Backyard Farming week!

We started out by making Cow Shaped Sandwiches this morning...we found the project idea at the "Little Nummies" website.

We used string cheese for the horns and eyes, pickles for the cowbell, nostrils, and pupils, and ham for the snout!
Then we ate them!

This afternoon we made farm animal cupcakes!
We bought a bunch of unfrosted cupcakes from Cub this morning...
We added some frosting....

To make a pig....

and a lamb!

Watercolor Piggies!

Yesterday we made some watercolor pigs...we originally found the idea here:

The kids drew their pigs with permanent markers on some white construction paper.
Then they added some water colors.....
and then they were done!

Backyard Farming!

Our theme this week is "Backyard Farming."  Today we made scrapbook chickens for our craft.  We got the idea from a fabric version on a chicken found here:
We cut out shapes from scrapbook paper using the templates from the fabric bird tutorial...
Then the kids started gluing them together....
They turned out like this!
Hanging on the cupboards!

Also since it's farming week here is an update of our garden!
We got tired of waiting for our wild flowers to come up so we planted some impatiens....you can see the wildflowers starting to peek up from the mulch....
The sunflowers are starting to get bigger!
We started this one earlier in the spring and it is just about ready to bloom!
We got a pretty fence to go around them so they don't get mowed over!
The big kids started a vegetable and herb garden too!

Wedding Weekend....

So Ashley is getting married in 34 days!  She was busy this weekend getting ready!

She made her super-cute boutonnieres....
.....etched some mugs for the groomsmen...

...and made a thank you sign to take pictures with at the wedding!

They took scrapbook paper and cut it into triangles...
...cut out letters on the cricut machine.....
..glued on the letters...

and it was done!

Pretty Cute!
Stay tuned for finished pictures of the mug and a practice wedding cake!!

Egg Drop Friday

Last Friday our big kids did an egg drop....they worked all morning to make a case for their eggs and parachutes.....and then Ashley and I chucked them off the roof!

One of the egg "packages"

Flying off the roof....
Some how only two of the eggs broke!
This was one of them-they decided to go without a parachute!
Up on the roof!
